Jian'ou Tongxian Gate is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Era: Ming to Qing Dynasty

Location: Cangchang Road, Jian'an Subdistrict, Jian'ou City

Introduction: This ancient structure dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties and is located on Cangchang Road in Jian'an Subdistrict, Jian'ou City. Its protected area is defined as extending south to the Songxi River and 20 meters outward in the east, west, and north directions. The original description published at the time of its selection stated: “It is one of the four surviving ancient city gates in Jian'ou. The city wall stands 8.5 meters high, with the arched gate opening being 4 meters tall and 23.85 meters deep. The stone plaque above the front gate is inscribed with the characters ‘Tongxian Gate’ (Gate to the Immortals) in relief regular script, which were added during the 1792 renovation in the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty.”

Protected Area: Extends south to the Songxi River and 20 meters outward in the east, west, and north directions.

In 2009, Jian'ou Tongxian Gate was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Jian'an Subdistrict: Located in the southeastern part of Jian'ou urban area, Jian'an Subdistrict is an important commercial and industrial hub of the city. Provincial Highway Ouzheng and the under-construction Punan Expressway run through the subdistrict. It covers a land area of 30.49 square kilometers, including 2,707 mu of arable land and 26,219 mu of forested land. The subdistrict administers three administrative villages and three community neighborhood committees, with a total population of 21,604.
