Nushan Mountain

Formerly known as Daughter Mountain, it is famed for having one of the best-preserved ancient volcanic craters in China. Located within Shaogang Township of Mingguang City, it lies 27 kilometers from downtown Mingguang, with an elevation of 101 meters and covering an area of approximately 80 square kilometers. It borders Shandong Village to the east and extends to Nushan Lake to the west. Situated on China’s Tanlu Fault Zone, Nushan was formed around 1.5 million years ago when massive amounts of magma erupted from a depth of 40 kilometers underground due to tectonic movements. It is the world’s most well-preserved ancient volcanic crater. The mountain has a basin-like shape, and when viewed from above, it resembles a jade ring floating on water—hence its other name, Yuhan Mountain (Jade Ring Mountain).
