Lindong Reservoir

Lindong Reservoir is located near Outangchong, about 5 kilometers east of Guandian Town, Mingguang City. It lies 1 kilometer from the downstream National Highway 104, 4.5 kilometers from the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, and 4 kilometers from the military reserve fuel depot of the Nanjing Garrison. It is part of the Chishui River system in the Huaihe River basin and intercepts runoff from the eastern branch of the Nansha River, covering a catchment area of 57.3 square kilometers. With a total storage capacity of 48.02 million cubic meters, it provides irrigation water for 48,600 mu of farmland across four towns — Zhaoxin Town, Mingdong Township, Shibei Town, and Guandian Town. Serving primarily as an irrigation reservoir, it also functions in flood control, aquaculture, and urban water supply for Mingguang Town, making it a key medium-sized multi-purpose reservoir. Over the years, it has played a significant role in ensuring agricultural harvests, supporting aquaculture, supplying water to towns, and safeguarding downstream areas against floods.

Guandian Town: Guandian Town is situated in the southern part of Mingguang City. Historically, it was named “Guandian” (literally “the shop of the Guan family”) because a person surnamed Guan once opened a store there. In 1999, it was designated as a central town by the provincial government, and in 2004, it was recognized as a national key town by the Ministry of Construction. In 2005, the town’s master plan was completed by the Anhui Urban Planning and Design Institute and passed the expert review organized by the Provincial Department of Construction. In July 2005, the plan was approved and implemented by the People’s Government of Mingguang City. The plan positions Guandian Town as a national key town, a provincial central town, and a small industrial, commercial, and tourism-oriented town.
