Nushan Lake Volcanic Crater

The Nushan Lake Volcanic Crater is a cultural relic protection unit of Mingguang City.

The Nushan Lake Volcanic Crater is located in Nushanhu Town, dating back 1.5 million years. It is classified as an ancient site, covering an area of 31,415 square meters. It is the third batch of cultural relics protection units in Mingguang City, with the announcement document number Ming Zheng [2010] No. 39.

Nushanhu Town: Nushanhu Town is situated in the northeastern part of Mingguang City, approximately 34 kilometers from downtown Mingguang. It borders the Huai River to the east, Qi Li Lake to the south, and Nushan Lake to the west and north, facing Jiangsu Province across the lake. It is the only waterborne town in Mingguang City that administers a water area and is also a well-known ancient water town in eastern Anhui.

The total water and land area under the jurisdiction of Nushanhu Town is 186.7 square kilometers (280,000 mu), including 13.3 square kilometers (20,000 mu) of land, accounting for 7% of the total area; the water surface covers 173.4 square kilometers, making up 93% of the total area and 65% of Mingguang’s 400,000 mu of water area.
