The Ancient West Lake Ecological Industrial Park in Yingquan District is situated at the site of the ancient West Lake in Zhongshi Subdistrict Office, Yingquan District, Fuyang City, just west of Fuyang Ecological Park, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. With a planned total area of 7.6 square kilometers, including a core area of 3.1 square kilometers, the park draws on the cultural legacy of the Ouyang-Xu tradition, centers around ecological industries, highlights rural tourism, and aims to become the “back garden” of Fuyang City. The goal is to develop the park into a provincial-level rural tourism demonstration zone that boasts beautiful ecology, thriving industries, and multifunctional leisure and tourism offerings. After three years of development, it has already taken initial shape as a modern ecological agriculture demonstration area and an ideal destination for urban and rural residents of Fuyang for travel, sightseeing, dining, and leisure.

The park adopts a development model of “government guidance and social participation” to build an industrial cluster integrating modern agriculture, ecological agriculture, and tourism agriculture. The district government has integrated over 30 million yuan in agricultural support funds to invest in infrastructure such as transportation, water conservancy, electricity, and forestry within the park. This has resulted in a convenient transportation network, comprehensive water system management, and upgraded power and communication systems.

The park has actively attracted investment, introducing projects that do not alter land use and align with principles of ecology, aesthetics, tourism, and leisure. To date, 33 enterprises have been introduced, with a total investment of 156 million yuan. A modern ecological agriculture demonstration area is beginning to take shape.

● Introduction to Park Projects

The park’s projects are divided into six major sections: factory-based edible mushroom cultivation area, agritainment zone, floral and horticultural area, fruit picking area, lotus root planting area, and premium vegetable area.

1. Factory-based Edible Mushroom Cultivation Area: Covering 120 mu, it cultivates edible mushrooms such as king oyster mushrooms, button mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms, with products sold across the country.

2. Agritainment Zone: Spanning 300 mu, it features landscape architecture in Song Dynasty, Huizhou-style, and classical Chinese designs. It offers dining, fishing, sightseeing, rare bird breeding, and fruit picking, providing visitors with opportunities to experience agricultural harvests, fishing, leisure, and vacation.

3. Floral and Horticultural Area: Covering 670 mu, it grows various high-quality, premium flowers and ornamental trees, which are exported both domestically and internationally.

4. Fruit Picking Area: Covering 800 mu, it cultivates a variety of pollution-free and harmless fruits for visitors to pick and taste.

5. Lotus Root Planting Area: Covering 280 mu. In midsummer, vast fields of colorful lotus flowers bloom competitively, with graceful lotus leaves swaying in the breeze, attracting water birds to linger — showcasing the charm of the Jiangnan water town scenery and adding a vibrant green landscape to the park.

6. Premium Vegetable Planting Area: Covering 200 mu, it uses plastic greenhouses for off-season cultivation. Varieties include large green eggplants, chili peppers, tomatoes, and green beans, ensuring a year-round supply of fresh vegetables.

The Ancient West Lake Ecological Industrial Park will further enhance its multifunctional planning and design on the existing foundation, improve infrastructure construction, elevate the overall image of the park, and boost service capabilities. The goal is to develop the park into a provincial-level modern agriculture demonstration zone that integrates modern agriculture, ecological agriculture, and sightseeing tourism agriculture.
