Fuyang Grand Theater is situated in the busy central section of Yingzhou Road in Fuyang City. Constructed in 1958, it spans a total area of 8,449.905 m², of which 2,500 m² are used for business operations. The theater accommodates over 1,000 spectators, with a stage opening 12 meters wide and 20 meters deep. The main building has three floors at the back: the first floor includes meeting rooms, makeup rooms, and prop storage; the second and third floors serve as guesthouses. The front section’s first floor is the lobby, the second floor houses the machine room, and the third floor connects to a luxury hall on the south and the North Comprehensive Building on the north. There is also a 1,500 m² cultural square in front of the theater.

In 2000, the municipal government invested over 5 million yuan, supplemented by more than 1 million yuan raised by the theater itself, to reinforce and renovate the original structure. Improvements were made to the side wings of the auditorium and auxiliary facilities were added. The venue was equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system, a central air conditioning system, and both interior and exterior were refurbished. New luxury seating, film projectors, American-imported metal screens, high-definition digital projectors, sound systems, lighting, and stage equipment were installed. In 2005, a 300 m² office building was added, transforming the grand theater into a comprehensive venue for artistic performances, movie screenings, and large-scale conferences.

After a comprehensive upgrade in 2013, the hardware facilities, overall environment, and viewer comfort were significantly enhanced. The renovated cinema complex now features three 3D screening halls, one 848-seat hall similar to China’s IMAX, and two VIP halls with a total of 200 seats. All seats are newly designed high-back airline-style chairs. The projection equipment uses imported high-definition devices, and the auditoriums are outfitted with sound-absorbing materials and RD surround digital stereo systems, ensuring excellent image clarity and viewing comfort.

Fuyang Grand Theater currently employs 38 staff members and has 20 retired employees. Fuyang City is located in the northwest of Anhui Province, covering a total area of 9,775 square kilometers. It administers Jieshou City and four counties—Taihe, Linquan, Funan, and Yingquan—as well as three districts—Yingzhou, Yingdong, and Yingquan—and a development zone, with a total urban and rural population of 9.328 million, including 1.068 million non-agricultural residents. The region is rich in historical sites and cultural heritage, boasting a profound cultural foundation. Fuyang also benefits from convenient transportation, with well-connected road, rail, and air links. The Fuyang Marshalling Yard on the Beijing-Kowloon Railway is the largest railway hub along the line, and the city’s transportation advantages are further supported by expressways, a civil airport, and six waterways.
