Yingquan Hui Lao Hall

Yingquan Hui Lao Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

Hui Lao Hall is located in Yingquan District, Fuyang City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

In the fourth year of the Xining era of the Song Dynasty (1071), it was the residence of Ouyang Xiu after his retirement to Yingzhou. The hall features three visible bays but five hidden ones, with layered beams and columns, stone brackets, and carved brick patterns, all in an ancient style. Moon gates connect the walls, the windows are hexagonal, and the front of the hall has a lattice door. In 2005, it was restored by the Yingquan District government of Fuyang City.

In 2012, Hui Lao Hall was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Anhui Province.

Protected area: extends 134.5 meters east-west and 150 meters north-south from the center of the main structure.

Construction control zone: outside the protected area, to the east up to the surrounding wall, to the south up to the surrounding wall of the irrigation and drainage station, and to the west and north up to the Hui Lao Hall lakeside channel.

Ouyang Xiu (August 1, 1007 – September 22, 1072), courtesy name Yongshu, also known as Zuiweng (the Drunken Old Man) and Liuyi Jushi (the Hermit of Six Ones), was a Northern Song politician, literary figure, and historian. He was one of the "Eight Great Prose Masters of the Tang and Song," contributed to the compilation of the New Book of Tang and the History of the Five Dynasties, and was a leading figure in the Classical Prose Movement of the Northern Song. His notable works include Record of the Pavilion of the Drunken Old Man and Autumn Sound Essay. Throughout his life, Ouyang Xiu experienced many ups and downs in his political career, including three demotions. Known for his uprightness and sense of justice, his poems and some refined lyrics reflect this aspect of his character.
