Weinong Pavilion (Yuwang Pavilion)

Also known as Yuwang Pavilion, Weinong Pavilion boasts profound cultural heritage and is a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit. Located atop Xixiashi Mountain, it has now been turned into a small island. Rebuilt during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, the pavilion features a square tiled roof, stone pillars, and flying eaves. The stone pillars are inscribed with a couplet handwritten by Magistrate Yan: “Choosing this scenic spot in my leisure hours, I gaze upon the tranquil Huai River and the elegant beauty of Xixiashi; concerned for the people’s welfare, I wish for abundant spring plowing and bountiful autumn harvests.” To the west of the pavilion stands an ancient Chinese honey locust tree, over a thousand years old, towering into the clouds with a girth of three people’s arms. Its lush shade covers the ground, and its bark and trunk are as dark as black iron—exquisitely gnarled and vigorous. The leisurely pavilion and ancient tree, set against the water, add even more poetic charm.
