Huainan Nantianmen

Nantianmen is the symbol of the capital’s Longmen Sect, also known as the “Dragon Gate” or “Carp Leaping Over the Dragon Gate.” Once you pass through Nantianmen, you have entered a fairyland. Looking south, the view “suddenly opens up,” refreshing your spirit and cleansing your worldly worries.

To the east, you can see the verdant layers of Zijin Mountain, and to the west, the sound of waves from Xiashi. Gazing into the distance, the three lakes lie flat as a whetstone; the sunset glows on the water, sparkling waves and fishing boats dot the scene—the West Lake Evening Glow is right before your eyes. If you visit during wind and rain, and are lucky enough to explore, you can walk to Shoutang Pass between the East and West Towers. It is an ancient mountain pass and the dressing table of the Song Dynasty heroine Liu Jinding. The area includes the Big Horse Market, Small Horse Market, and a military training ground. In the misty rainy season, the scenery is majestic and awe-inspiring, as if you can hear the heroic momentum of thousands of soldiers and horses in battle. It is also called “Shoutang Misty Rain.”
