Baijiatai Site
Baijiatai Site is a cultural tourism attraction.
In April 1985, during the widening project of the Shou (County)–Cai (Jiagang) Highway, an ancient architectural site was discovered along the western edge of the current Dongjindu Highway. Covering a total area of about 3,000 square meters, the site was named Baijiatai Site after Baijiatai Village, where it is located. Provincial and county-level cultural relics researchers excavated the site and found large stone column bases, rectangular gray floor bricks, as well as groove bricks featuring four-leaf patterns and mountain-shaped linked patterns, along with round roof tiles adorned with phoenix and bird motifs, tree and cloud designs, and other artifacts. The architectural scale is grand, and the decorative patterns on the objects are rich and varied. Participants of the National Chu Culture Research Seminar also made a special trip to investigate the site, drawing high attention from the archaeological community. “It is believed that this site may be part of the palace architecture within the Shouchun City, the capital of the Chu State during the Ying era, marking a major discovery in the archaeology of Chu culture.”
