The Longhekou Reservoir Dam (located in Shucheng County), also known as Wanfo Lake, was once the world’s largest man-made earth and rock dam, earning high praise from the United Nations Dam Commission. When the reservoir discharges water, the thunderous roar resembles a stampede of ten thousand horses, with surging waves and spray blanketing the valley. Sunlight refracting through the mist creates stunning rainbows—a truly spectacular view. It has been designated as a National AAAA-level Scenic Spot and a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area, and is hailed as the “Back Garden of the Provincial Capital.”
