Shimen Stone Carvings

The Shimen Stone Carvings are a cultural tourism attraction.

Deep in a valley on the southwestern foothills of Hengshan Mountain in Dangtu County, there were originally two natural stone walls standing side by side, resembling a gate. Over time, the right stone wall of the "gate" has been destroyed, while the surviving left wall bears the two forceful Chinese characters “石门” (Stone Gate), carved during the Tang Dynasty. High up on the upper part of the stone carvings, there is also a four-character inscription “壁立万仞” (Walls Rise Ten Thousand Ren High), written by Ming Dynasty scholar Wang Pan, which can still be identified today.

The Shimen area boasts spectacular landscapes and winding mountain paths, offering visitors a feeling of entering a fairyland. Ticket Information · Opening Hours

Transportation

Located on the southwestern foothills of Hengshan Mountain in Dangtu County, it can be reached by taking a local bus from Ma'anshan to Dalong or Huangchi.
