Tianzi Lake Scenic Area

Tianzi Lake Scenic Area is located 35 kilometers south of Langxi County and belongs to the extension of the Huangshan Mountain Range. The area features steep mountains and lush bamboo forests, and is a scenic destination centered around Stone Buddha Mountain and Tianzi Lake, characterized by religious culture and picturesque lake-and-mountain views. "A Buddha holds up the clouds with the temple embraced by stone; two lakes cradle the moon as waters embrace the hills." Tianzi Lake and Hongqi Lake complement each other, offering vast waters dotted with peninsulas and abundant waterfowl. Scenic spots along the lakeshore such as Tianzi Bao, Tianzi Gate, Ancient Plank Road, Zhuangyuan Wa, Shaijing Platform, Ghost Gate Pass, and Crab Ridge all have their own legendary tales.

The area is filled with grotesque and uniquely shaped rocks, creating a spectacular sight of wonder, danger, oddity, and charm. Notable formations include: Cloud-Supporting Rock, Monk Rock, Wind-Moving Rock, Toad-Croaking Rock, Peach Rock, Golden Turtle Rock, Recumbent Ox Rock, Screen Rock, and Sword-Testing Rock. Especially famous is the “Wind-Moving Rock,” which weighs over thirty tons and is considered a “unique wonder under heaven.” Its marvel lies in the fact that it moves slightly when first pushed but becomes immovable upon further attempts, leaving visitors in awe. The Huiming Chan Temple within the area is highly renowned in southeastern Anhui. Temples such as Dizang Hall, Panlong Temple, Da Bei Lou, and Ancestral Master Hall boast majestic architecture and are often referred to as the “Little Jiuhua Mountain.”
