Tomb of Shi Runzhang

The Tomb of Shi Runzhang is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The Tomb of Shi Runzhang is located in Xiangyang Town, Xuanzhou District, Xuancheng City.

It is an ancient Qing Dynasty tomb, oriented east-west, measuring 7.5 meters in length and 10.5 meters in width. The tomb originally had a gravestone, a stone pillar couplet, and a canopy, all of which were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.

Shi Runzhang (1618–1683) passed the imperial examination in the Bingyou year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty and served as an official in the Ministry of Justice, an education intendant in Shandong, an administrative advisor in Jiangnan, and a regional defense official in Hunan, among other positions. During the Kangxi era, he was summoned to take the Hongbo examination, appointed as an imperial lecturer, and participated in compiling the History of Ming. He was later promoted to imperial reader. Wherever he served, he accomplished many beneficial deeds. He was skilled in poetry and classical prose, and founded the "Xuancheng style" of poetry, which dominated the literary scene for decades. He was as renowned as Song Wan from Laizhou, and the two were referred to as “Southern Shi, Northern Song.” He authored various collections of poetry and prose, as well as historical and geographical works, including the “Shuangxi Poetry and Prose Collection” and the “Xueyutang Poetry and Prose Collection.”
