The Bai Liu Commune Alum Mine Smelting Site

The Bai Liu Commune Alum Mine Smelting Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Bai Liu Commune Alum Mine Smelting Site was built in 1958, covering an area of 1,560 square meters. It consists of parts such as the alum kiln, alum stove, heating pool, and sedimentation pool. The chimney is shuttle-shaped, standing 17.5 meters tall with a base diameter of 4.3 meters, and is constructed from blue bricks. About 100 meters to the west was originally an alum-smelting stove, whose chimney was square (now collapsed), with a stove platform to the east that could hold three large iron pots, two adjacent square heating pools to the west (now buried by earth), and to the south, two rows of 11 circular sedimentation pools each, totaling 22 pools, encircled by bluestone. The alum mine smelting site showcases the entire process from alum ore mining to manual alum production.

This site is a product of a special era and serves as an important industrial cultural heritage. It is a new category added during the third national cultural relics survey, providing physical evidence for studying the local industrial development history and offering certain value for researching industrial civilization of a specific period.

Protected area: Centered around the kiln, extending 20 meters east and west, 60 meters south, and 30 meters north.

Construction control zone: Extending 10 meters east, south, west, and north beyond the protected area.
