The Zihua Dun Site

The Zihua Dun Site is a cultural heritage site protected by the Anhui Provincial Government.

The Zihua Dun Site measures 270 meters in length, 87 meters in width, and covers an area of 19,000 square meters. It stretches from east to west in an irregular rectangle, with farmland on the east, west, and south sides, standing approximately 3 meters above the ground surface. The cultural layer is 1–2.5 meters thick, with extensive deposits of red fired earth. Artifacts such as pottery tripod leg fragments and rim pieces have been collected from the surface and exposed sections. The upper layer of the site belongs to the Shang and Zhou dynasties’ cultural stratum, while the lower layer consists of Neolithic cultural remains dating to the late period of the Liangzhu culture. Among the Neolithic remains, artifacts such as flat-sided tripod legs are commonly found. The site was discovered during the third national cultural relics survey. It holds academic value for the study of the distribution and nature of ancient cultures in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, as well as for understanding the historical and civilizational origins of Zongyang County.

Protected Area: A buffer zone of 10 meters extends outward from the site on the east, south, west, and north sides.

Construction Control Zone: An additional buffer zone of 10 meters extends outward beyond the protected area on the east, south, west, and north sides.

Xiangyang Village: Xiangyang Village was formed in 2005 through the merger of the former Xiangzhuang Village and Lianmeng Village. It covers a total area of 9.7 square kilometers. It borders Fudu Village to the east, connects to Nverqiao Village to the south, adjoins Taiping Village to the west, and neighbors Qianqiao Town to the north. The village has 82 official Party members, divided into two Party branches: the First Branch with 41 members and the Second Branch with 41 members. There are 44 villager groups under its administration, with 1,252 households and a total population of 4,405. The village includes 4,960 mu of arable land and 1,790 mu of forested land.
