Lingying Temple

Lingying Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

Commonly known as the Big Temple, it was first built in the third year of the Shengli era of the Tang Dynasty (669) and has undergone several cycles of prosperity and decline. The current structure only retains the main hall, which was rebuilt in 1919 with a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof. The hall spans five bays in width, totaling 22.5 meters, and is 19 meters deep. The upper eaves feature double ang, and although the building is relatively recent in age, its use of true ang and upper ang preserves some features of ancient architecture, making it a valuable physical resource for studying the architectural development history of Ningbo.
