Tomb Path of Wang Zhu

The Tomb Path of Wang Zhu is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

The Tomb Path of Wang Zhu is located on Shima Bay Mountain in Simingshan Village, Jishi Port Town, Yinzhou District. It was built during the Northern Song Dynasty.

The tomb and its path face east and are surrounded by mountains on three sides. The path winds up the hillside in a natural “N” shape following the terrain. The tomb is situated halfway up the mountain and is heavily damaged. On the path, one stone horse remains, measuring 1.80 meters in length, with an ornate saddle on its back. Its design is simple and classic, with restrained carvings. Half of it is buried in the ground and shows severe weathering. Further along the path lies the ancient tomb platform. Stone steps and the curved tomb wall still remain. On the tomb platform, there are two sets of remnants of stone-carved ceremonial pavilions. The pavilion is not large, with roof tiles carved in relief, and the hip-and-gable roof features carved beast heads at the ridge ends. The stone structure imitates wooden architecture, and around the pavilion, remnants such as brackets and rafters can be found.

Wang Zhu: A successful candidate in the imperial examination in the third year of Song Emperor Zhezong’s Yuanyou reign (1100), he was precocious from childhood, known for both his literary talent and moral character, and was referred to as Master Wang. He served as a professor in Mingzhou and authored works such as the "Poetry of Child Prodigies."

In September 2007, it was announced as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit at the district level in the eighth batch of Yinzhou District. In 2016, following the adjustment of Ningbo’s administrative divisions, it was placed under Haishu District.
