Former Site Memorial Hall of the Ningbo Local Committee of the CPC

The Former Site Memorial Hall of the Ningbo Local Committee of the CPC is a cultural relic protection unit in Haishu District and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Former Site Memorial Hall of the Ningbo Local Committee of the CPC during the Great Revolution Period was originally located at Xingyunfang (later No. 17 Sihu Lane) in Si Xiang Alley, the site of Qiming Girls' School. In 1994, during urban redevelopment, it was moved 50 meters west to its current location (right side of Building 34, Xinxiang, Xinjie Community, South Jiefang Road). Between February and March 1925, the Ningbo Branch of the CPC was established, with its office set up inside Qiming Girls' School at Cuwu Bridge in downtown Ningbo. In August, it was renamed the Independent Branch of the CPC Ningbo, and its office moved with the school to Xingyunfang in Si Xiang Alley. In January 1926, the First General Congress of the Ningbo Local Committee of the CPC was held in this building, where the Ningbo Local Executive Committee of the CPC was elected. This place became the office of the Ningbo Local Committee of the CPC and served as the earliest secret base for both the Party and the Communist Youth League in Ningbo.

In 1991, the Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Ningbo Municipal People’s Government approved it as an important revolutionary site for protection and established the Ningbo Local Party History Exhibition Room. It officially opened to the public on July 1, 1994. In May 1995, it was designated as a Ningbo Patriotic Education Base by the Ningbo Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Ningbo Municipal People’s Government. In 2005, it was named as one of the first municipal-level CPC History Education Bases in Ningbo.

The memorial hall has two exhibition rooms, displaying a large number of precious photos with explanatory texts, showcasing the glorious history of how the Ningbo local organizations of the CPC led the people of Ningbo in their struggles against imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratism during the Great Revolution Period. It also highlights how revolutionary martyrs endured severe tests under harsh conditions, fought bravely against the reactionary Kuomintang, and devoted themselves to the cause of national liberation.

Since its opening, the memorial hall has become a base for the public to receive education on Party history and revolutionary history, thanks to its focus on revolutionary history. It has hosted ceremonies for joining the Party and the Communist Youth League, memorial activities for revolutionary martyrs, sessions for learning about revolutionary history, and special organizational activities, leaving a deep impression on visitors. In fulfilling its social education mission, the memorial hall offers free admission to all visitors, receiving thousands of guests each year and effectively serving as both a CPC History Education Base and a Patriotic Education Base.
