Ningbo Zhongshan Park

Ningbo Zhongshan Park is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.

Ningbo Zhongshan Park is located on Jiefang North Road in Haishu District, Ningbo, and is now part of Zhongshan Square. Originally the site of the Ningbo government offices, in the spring of 1927, on the second anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's passing, a proposal was made to build a Zhongshan Park in his honor, which was immediately endorsed by people from all walks of life in Ningbo.

The park site was chosen in the area of the former Taoist office, Houleyuan Garden, and Fuhou Mountain, covering approximately 60 acres, and construction began in the summer of that year. After more than two years of work and an investment of over 110,000 yuan, the park was completed in the autumn of 1929. A total of 21 various buildings, 4 pavilions, 2 memorial archways, 3 corridors, and 5 bridges were constructed. Among them, Duxiu Mountain is a relic from the Ming Dynasty, and the Zunjing Pavilion was relocated from the Ningbo Prefectural School. In early 1998, Zhongshan Park and the Ningbo Stadium area were integrated into Zhongshan Square, which quickly became a leading venue for public square cultural performances and an important showcase of Ningbo’s urban material and spiritual civilization. Since 1999, Zhongshan Park has been awarded the title of “Advanced Unit in Square Cultural Activities” by the Ningbo Grand Events Office for several consecutive years. Currently, the original site of Zhongshan Park is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Zhejiang Province.
