The Lujiaqiao Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Haishu District.
The Lujiaqiao Site is located in Shangxia Chen Natural Village, Sanxing Village, Gulin Town, Haishu District, about 150 meters east of Lujiaqiao, locally known as Anjipan. The site extends eastward beneath the residences at Lujiaqiao and is roughly bounded on the west by the eastern walls of the houses in Shangxia Chen. Its southern end varies from 13 to 85 meters from Duanmei Highway, while the northern end stretches northward from the north bank of the river to fish ponds and the backyard of a chicken farm. It is now within Shangxia Chen Natural Village, Sanxing Village, Gulin Town, Haishu District, about 150 meters east of Lujiaqiao, locally known as Anjipan. The total surveyed area of the site is 24,000 m², consisting of two sections, eastern and western, about 30 meters apart. The western section is approximately 220 meters long (east-west) and 10–168 meters wide (north-south), covering an area of 22,000 m². The eastern section, extending northeastward beneath densely built-up residential areas near Lujiaqiao, has been surveyed to be about 80 meters long (north-south) and 32 meters wide (east-west) at its broadest, covering around 2,000 m². Exploration in the first half of 2009 revealed that the Lujiaqiao Site has five strata, with the main cultural layer located in the fourth stratum, primarily composed of various pottery shards, wood chips, wooden blocks, charcoal, and rice husks.
The Lujiaqiao Site was discovered in the winter of 1973 during the dredging of the Hengjiang River. Major finds included ring-footed plates, open-mouthed jars, as well as fragments of bean pots and tripod feet. After examination by provincial and municipal cultural heritage authorities, the site was identified as belonging to the third cultural layer of the Hemudu Site. Following its discovery, it was designated as a cultural heritage protection point. Exploration in 2009 indicated that its distribution area extended to the southwest of the originally published zone. The discovery of the site significantly advanced our understanding of human activity history in our district, marking one of the earliest known human settlements in the area and holding considerable historical value. In 2010, it was declared a Cultural Heritage Conservation Unit at the district level (ninth batch) of Yinzhou District, and in 2016, it was incorporated into Haishu District following an administrative division adjustment in Ningbo City.
