Martyrs' Tomb of Chen Xiaoyun

The Martyrs' Tomb of Chen Xiaoyun is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

The Martyrs' Tomb of Chen Xiaoyun is located to the west of Bianjia Natural Village, Yanshan Village, Yinjiang Town, Haishu District. It sits at the foot of Aodali Mountain, facing southwest to northeast, covering an area of 64 m². The tomb chamber is circular, with a diameter of 3.06 meters. Its base is built with stones, while the upper part is poured with cement. The tombstone is divided into upper and lower sections. The upper part is inscribed with "Tomb of Martyr Chen Xiaoyun", with the upper line reading "May 1975" and the lower line "Respectfully inscribed by Mao Jun and Jin Jun". The lower part of the tombstone is engraved with "Here lies Bian Yuanren and Chen Jifang", with the inscription "May 1943, the 32nd Year of the Republic of China".

Chen Xiaoyun (1910–1944), female, originally named Chen Suying, also known as Chen Jifang, was from Sanqishi, Cixi (now part of Yuyao). In the winter of 1924, she dropped out of primary school before graduation. The following year, she changed her name to Chen Xiaoyun and was admitted to Ningbo Girls' Middle School. In 1927, she quit school and returned home, where she was forced into marriage but soon escaped. She taught at Xincang Primary School in Zhenhai and eventually obtained a divorce after a struggle. In 1938, she moved to teach at Yanshan Primary School in Meiyuan Township, Yin County. In April 1941, she joined the Chinese Communist Party. In the autumn of the same year, she changed her name to Chen Tingran and served as the economic officer of the Meiyuan Township Office. In the autumn of 1942, the CCP Meiyuan District Working Committee was established, and she was appointed as its secretary. In the autumn of 1943, she became the democratic township head of Meiyuan Township, becoming the first female township head of an anti-Japanese regime in eastern Zhejiang. She was highly respected for her firm resistance against the enemy and care for the local people. In April 1944, she was arrested by the Nationalist die-hard troops under Guo Qingbai and was killed on April 30 in Shenlong, Shiling, western Yin County.

In September 2010, it was announced as the ninth batch of district-level cultural relic protection units in Yinzhou District, and in 2016, it was transferred to Haishu District following the administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City.
