Guangxi Bridge

Guangxi Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected by Haishu District.

Guangxi Bridge, also known as Xujia Bridge, is located at the southern end of Xujiaqiao Lane in Guangxi Natural Village, Yinjiang Town, Haishu District. The bridge was first built in 1524 under the direction of Shen Jimei, the then magistrate of Yin County, with labor provided by local people. It was renovated in 1798 and underwent major repairs in 1902.

The bridge is a single-arch stone structure, spanning from north to south, with a total length of 39.95 meters, a width of 4.5 meters, a height of 7.8 meters, a clear span of 12 meters, a rise of 6.5 meters, and a surface area of 280 square meters. Solid balustrades are installed on both sides of the deck, with each of the four pillars carved with a stone lion. On either side of the arch are projecting stone carvings of mythical ao (a dragon-like creature), accompanied by an inscribed couplet: “The ring-shaped stream divides moonlight, long embracing the rippling literary grace of the Huai waters; the rainbow bridge links ancient paths, connecting distant carts and boats across a hundred li.” The western arch bears a plaque inscribed with “Guangxi Bridge,” with an inscription reading “Repaired in the third year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, and again in the year of Renyin during the Guangxu reign.” The eastern side is engraved with “Foremost Town of Siming.” The approaches to the bridge on both the north and south ends are trumpet-shaped, with 28 and 25 steps respectively at the northern and southern abutments. The southern end connects to a platform that links to the site of the former official pond, while the northern end leads directly onto Guangxi Road.

Guangxi Bridge has a precisely recorded construction date and once served as an important auxiliary facility of the Tashan Weir water conservancy project, holding significant historical and scientific research value. In September 2010, it was designated as part of the ninth batch of cultural heritage sites protected at the district level by Yinzhou District. Following the 2016 administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Haishu District.

Yinjiang Town: Located at the eastern foothills of the Siming Mountains, Yinjiang Town is a major settlement on the western edge of the Yinxi Plain and a historic town with a thousand years of cultural heritage. It lies 25 kilometers from downtown Ningbo. To the east, it borders Dongqiao Town and Gulin Town; to the west, Zhangshui Town and Longguan Township; to the south, Jiangkou and Xiaowangmiao in Fenghua; and to the north, Hengjie Town. The town stretches 5 kilometers from east to west and 10 kilometers from north to south. The Yongjin Expressway runs close by, while the district road Heliang Highway cuts through the town center.
