Hengjie Yongqing Bridge

Hengjie Yongqing Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

Yongqing Bridge is located on the east side of Zhusilan Village, Hengjie Town, Haishu District, spanning the north and south banks of Dakeng Stream. Research based on the inscription on the bridgehead dates its construction to 1904.

The bridge is a single-arch structure, with a total length of 6.44 meters, a surface width of 2.86 meters, and a clear span of 1.84 meters. The entire bridge body is built from neatly arranged, slightly rectangular bluestone blocks. On the east and west sides of the bridge deck, there are long, strip-shaped pressure stones, which not only serve a mechanical load-bearing and protective function but also function as bridge railings for pedestrians to rest against. There are six steps at the bridge approaches on both the south and north sides. On the western side of the arch, the stone plaque above the arch is inscribed with “Yongqing Bridge” (Bridge of Eternal Celebration), with the upper inscription reading “Guangxu Jiachen” (the 30th year of the Guangxu reign, 1904) and the lower inscription reading “Zhongdong Jidian” (auspicious day in mid-winter). The central square stone of the bridge deck measures 0.82 meters per side, with carvings of floral patterns and ruyi (good fortune) motifs in the middle. The arch rise is 4.1 meters high, and the clear span is 5.1 meters.

The bridge is surrounded by mountains on three sides: Damao Mountain to the northeast, Soy Sauce Bottle Mountain to the south, and Zhusilan Village about a hundred meters to the west. Dakeng Stream flows across the south of the village and has served as a vital transportation route between Zhusilan Village and Shangzhaojing Village from ancient times to the present. It plays an important role in the production and daily life of local mountain residents. The bridge remains well-preserved to this day and holds certain historical value. In September 2010, it was announced as the ninth batch of district-level cultural relic protection units of Yinzhou District, and when Ningbo's administrative divisions were adjusted in 2016, it was placed under Haishu District.
