Yanshuang Pavilion

Yanshuang Pavilion is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

Yanshuang Pavilion is located at the ridge top of Tengling in Feng’ao Village, Hengjie Town, Haishu District. It features a wood-and-stone structure, facing south atop a ridge in the Lingfeng Mountain area, with the small Tengling Village to its east leading to Feng’ao and Hengjie.

The pavilion has a width of three bays and a depth of two pillars and seven rafters. Eight stone pillars stand inside, with four in the central bay, constructed with a five-rafter beam and post-and-lintel system, while the side bays follow the same pattern. The floor is paved with cobblestones featuring circular patterns. Couplets written by late Qing Dynasty scholar Wang Chonggan are inscribed on all pillars. An inscription tablet titled “Tiandenghui Stele” is embedded in the eastern gable wall, erected in the fourth year of the Republic of China. In front of the western gable wall stands a stele titled “Yongyuan Chaming” (Eternal Tea Offering), erected in the 22nd year of the Daoguang reign. A stone plaque inscribed with “Yanshuang Pavilion,” without any signature, is embedded in the northern wall. Based on current conditions, it is believed to be a structure from the late Qing Dynasty.

The main structure remains largely intact. During the survey, it was found to be in disrepair due to age, with certain degrees of damage to the roof and walls, but it has since been restored. Behind the pavilion lies the “Zhonglingfeng Temple,” where a damaged stone plaque inscribed with “□lingfeng Temple” can be found, bearing the signature “Eighth Year of the Guangxu Reign.” This plaque is now embedded in the rear half of the central bay’s makeshift back wall. In September 2010, it was announced as the ninth batch of district-level cultural relic protection units of Yinzhou District, and when the administrative division of Ningbo City was adjusted in 2016, it was incorporated into Haishu District.
