Lin Village Wan’an Bridge

Lin Village Wan’an Bridge is a cultural heritage site under the protection of Haishu District.

Lin Village Wan’an Bridge is located in Lin Village, Hengjie Town, Haishu District. According to the Records of Yin County, the bridge was first built during the Song Dynasty, renovated in subsequent dynasties, and the current structure was reconstructed during the Qing Dynasty. Because it is an arch bridge with an opening, it is locally known as “Dongqiao” (literally, Hole Bridge).

The bridge is a two-arch stone corridor bridge, stretching north–south across the middle and upper reaches of the Huanhua Stream. It is 17.79 meters in total length, with a deck that is 9.4 meters long and 4.6 meters wide. There are 13 steps at each end of the bridge. The bridge features three interconnected corridor rooms, with the central bay constructed using a post-and-lintel system and the side bays using a through-tenon system. The wooden railings are 0.67 meters high. The bridge piers are built from rectangular stone blocks in a tightly stacked formation, demonstrating a rigorous structure and fine craftsmanship.

Since its reconstruction in the Qing Dynasty, the bridge has not undergone any alterations or additions, making it one of the more completely preserved ancient bridges in our district to date. It holds certain historical, artistic, and scientific value. In September 2010, it was designated as part of the ninth batch of cultural heritage sites under Yinzhou District protection. Following the 2016 administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Haishu District.

Hengjie Town: Located in the western part of Yinzhou, Hengjie Town is about 10 kilometers from downtown Ningbo, adjacent to the Hangzhou–Ningbo Expressway, 8 kilometers from Ningbo Lishe International Airport, and 40 kilometers from Beilun Port. Buses such as Route 108 within the town provide direct access to Ningbo. The under-construction urban expressway runs through the town, and the extension of Lianfeng Road to Hengjie is currently under planning. To the east of the town lies the vast alluvial plain of the ancient Guangde Lake, while the west features continuous hills and overlapping ridges. The area boasts fertile farmland, dense forests, and abundant natural resources, earning it the reputation of the “Land of Peach Blossom Spring.”
