Yinxian Communist Labor University

Yinxian Communist Labor University is a cultural heritage site protected by Haishu District.

Yinxian Communist Labor University is situated in Maoyangshan Natural Village, Miyancun, Zhangshui Town, Haishu District, and was founded in 1975. In response to the call of the time, the aim was to make the school a tool of the proletariat. The then Yinxian County Committee decided to establish Yinxian Communist Labor University (abbreviated as Yinxian Gongda) on the basis of merging the County Workers and Peasants School and the Zhangshui Workers and Peasants School (including the former Zhangcun Middle School and Zhangshui Workers and Peasants School). Based on the needs of the three major rural revolutions and existing conditions, four majors were offered: agriculture, agricultural machinery, forestry, and animal husbandry and veterinary science. Various short-term training classes were also held.

The total area of Yinxian Gongda is about 4,000 square meters. Four bungalows on the eastern hillside serve as faculty dormitories, two bungalow buildings to the west are student dormitories, the central building is the canteen, and the teaching building in the southwest corner is also a bungalow. Other facilities include toilets, a canteen, a backyard well, and approximately 192 square meters of additional space to the north for classrooms and a water tower, which has now collapsed. There is also a basketball court, playground, and other activity areas. Yinxian Communist Labor University continuously trained cadres for Yinxian County and served as a key training base for the county’s officials. In 1981, the school was relocated to the foot of the mountain (now the Siming Vocational High School), and the original site was abandoned.

The establishment of Gongda reflected the national emphasis on education at that time and holds certain historical significance. It was listed as the ninth batch of district-level cultural heritage protection sites in Yinzhou District in 2010, and was incorporated into Haishu District following the 2016 administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City.
