Silver Mountain Battle Martyrs' Pavilion

The Silver Mountain Battle Martyrs' Pavilion is a cultural heritage site protected by Haishu District.

The Silver Mountain Battle Martyrs' Pavilion is located on Silver Mountain in Shuangyin Village, Jishi Port Town, Haishu District, commemorating the spirits of soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance Against Japan and other battles.

The monument was erected in 1951, and the pavilion was built in the 1980s. The monument consists of a main body and a base: the main body stands 1.67 meters tall, 0.94 meters wide, and 0.095 meters thick; the base is 0.19 meters tall, 1.03 meters wide, and 0.30 meters deep.

The front of the monument is inscribed with “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyrs,” with the upper line reading “April 1951” and the signature “Respectfully Erected by All People of Hushan Township.” A red five-pointed star is carved at the top center.

The back of the monument is inscribed with “In Memory of Over 300 Revolutionary Martyrs of Siming Mountain Including Mao Alai, Zhu Hongshan, Chen Hui, Wu Asheng, Zhiming, Xu Ying, Xu Jiaofang, Xiao Zhuo, Xie Shide, Xu Axiang, and Xia Miao,” among which Wu Asheng’s name was not initially painted red. It is said that he was believed dead at the time the monument was erected but later returned alive, hence no red paint was added, and his name has since faded. The stone used is Meiyuan stone.

The pavilion is a hexagonal concrete structure with a pointed top, housing the monument facing east with the back to the west. On both sides, there are frame-structured benches, and there is an additional concrete platform in front of the pavilion. The entire martyrs' pavilion is situated atop Silver Mountain.

In September 2010, it was designated as the ninth batch of district-level cultural heritage sites in Yinzhou District, and in 2016, it was placed under Haishu District following the municipal administrative division adjustment in Ningbo.

The village encompasses 2,355 mu of forest land and 826 mu of cultivated land. Surrounded by water on three sides and facing Silver Mountain to the south, the mountain peak hosts a monument commemorating revolutionary martyrs. The area was once used as a revolutionary base by the New Fourth Army and the 35th Detachment.
