Qindian Jiatang and Ancient Bridge

Qindian Jiatang and Ancient Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected by Haishu District.

Qindian Jiatang is located in Qindian, WanZhong Village, Jishigang Town, Haishu District. It was one of the ancient hydraulic facilities of Guangde Lake, mainly used to divide the inner lake from the outer river. Constructed from compacted earth, it is similar to the pingshui weirs and ponds of present-day Dongqian Lake. The remaining section of Jiatang is around 2–3 meters wide on average, stretching from Jishigang Town to Gulin Town, and is one of the few surviving hydraulic structures of Guangde Lake. Guangde Lake was built approximately between the Jin and Liang dynasties, and came to be known as Guangde Lake after the Tang Dynasty. During the Song Dynasty, Lou Yi reclaimed farmland from the lake here, leading to the gradual abandonment of the Jiatang.

As one of the very few remaining relics of Guangde Lake, Qindian Jiatang provides first-hand physical evidence for the study of the lake’s history and holds significant historical value. In September 2010, it was designated as part of the ninth batch of cultural heritage sites protected at the district level by Yinzhou District. Following the 2016 administrative division adjustment of Ningbo, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Haishu District.

WanZhong Village: Located in western Ningbo, WanZhong Village was originally composed of 14 natural villages: Fangjia, Sunzhou, Qiansun, Danfeng Xincun, Hocun, Ancang, Yaojia, Gujiagang, Jiuheqiao, Xigang, Houjie, Qianjie, Caojia, and Wangjia. The village covers an area of approximately 3.5 square kilometers. By the end of 2007, it had a total population of 1,123 households and 2,986 people. The village has 2,500 mu of arable land, all of which are paddy fields. Agriculture mainly focuses on the cultivation of rush and late-season rice, along with 250 mu of greenhouse watermelons, generating a total agricultural income of 12.75 million yuan.
