Ningbo Guangde Nunnery

Ningbo Guangde Nunnery is a cultural relic protection unit of Haishu District.

Guangde Nunnery is located in Zhujiaqiao Natural Village, Zhujiaqiao Village, Jishigang Town, Haishu District. Judging from its architectural style, it was built around the Republican era, with some sections renovated after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The main structure faces south and features a traditional courtyard layout, covering an area of 653.67㎡. Along the central axis, from south to north, there are three successive sections: front, middle, and rear buildings. The large well is located in the center of the front courtyard.

The front, middle, and rear sections all feature Guanyin-dou style walls. The front section has three bays and two lanes, with the central bay utilizing a post-and-lintel structure and a five-rafter beam frame with single-step beams in front and back. The side bays use central pillars and a through-tenon structure. The main hall has five bays and two lanes, with the lanes situated between the side and end bays. The central bay features a post-and-lintel structure with a five-rafter beam frame, and a rolled awning roof is installed along the front eaves. The rear hall is a single-eave building with three bays and two lanes. The central bay uses a post-and-lintel structure similar to that of the front hall. The large well is in the center of the front courtyard, with brick-lined walls shaped conically and a circular well curb with an inner diameter of 0.5 meters. Side rooms are divided into front and rear sections, located on both sides of the front and rear courtyards. The front side rooms consist of single-bay structures, while most of the rear side rooms have been rebuilt.

This temple has a well-organized layout and holds certain historical and cultural value. It was designated as the ninth batch of district-level cultural relic protection units in Yinzhou District in 2010, and was transferred to Haishu District following the municipal administrative division adjustment in 2016.

Zhujiaqiao Village: Located east of Jishigang Town, Zhujiaqiao Village is traversed by Lianfeng Middle Road, Wangtong Highway, and North Road, providing very convenient transportation. The village currently has 1,400 mu of cultivated land, over 1,200 households, and a population of more than 3,200. It consists of 18 natural villages and 11 villager groups, with 97 Party members, including 13 female Party members. Numerous businesses and enterprises are located around the village, with over 200 private enterprises.
