Former Residence of Tu Yong

The former residence of Tu Yong is a protected cultural heritage site in Ningbo.

The former residence of Tu Yong is located at No. 51 Shangshu Street, Zhongshan Community, Gulou Subdistrict, Haishu District, Ningbo. In September 1992, it was designated as one of the first municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. Tu Yong (1440–1512), styled Chaozong and also known as Danshan, passed the imperial examination in the second year of the Chenghua reign. He served successively as Censor, Vice Censor-in-Chief, and Censor-in-Chief. In the early years of the Hongzhi reign, when natural disasters and anomalies occurred frequently, he submitted several memorials highlighting current issues, which were adopted. In 1498, he was promoted to Minister of Personnel. Tu Yong was known for his fairness in court affairs and for promoting virtuous and capable individuals. He was later impeached and forced to retire but was reinstated in the first year of the Zhengde reign (1506). He resisted the eunuch Liu Jin and retired again before passing away. He was posthumously honored with the title “Xianghui” and authored the collection “Danshan Ji.” Tu Yong was a renowned statesman of the Ming Dynasty.

It borders Jiefang North Road to the east, Zhongshan West Road to the south, Xiaowen Street to the west, and Xihe Street (including Zhongshan Square) to the north.
