Osmanthus Hall

Osmanthus Hall is a municipal cultural heritage conservation unit in Ningbo.

Osmanthus Hall is located at No. 17 and 18, Guifang Lane, Haishu District, Ningbo. In September 1999, it was designated as one of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. The building faces south with a single-eave, flush-gable roof covered with small blue tiles. The entire hall is free of carvings and has an unadorned surface, featuring architectural characteristics of the Ming Dynasty.

This building was originally the flower hall within the Jieshi Garden of the Ni family, a prominent clan in Yong. The Ni family migrated to Yin County from the Song Dynasty and amassed considerable wealth during the Yuan Dynasty. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, when Qian Sule rose in arms against the Qing and in support of the Ming restoration, Ni family members Mouxi (courtesy name Zhonghui, who served as an Assistant Regional Commander) and Yuankai (courtesy name Duanqing, who served as an Assessor) joined his cause.
