Zhang Residence on Gongqing Road

The Zhang Residence is located at No. 85 Gongqing Road, Yuexiu Subdistrict, Haishu District, Ningbo City. In September 1999, it was designated as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage conservation sites in Ningbo. It is a complex of Qing Dynasty architecture, with the main structure facing east and situated to the west. According to oral accounts, the original owner of the residence was surnamed Xu, a successful candidate in the imperial examination during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. It was later sold to the Zhang family, hence the name Zhang Residence.

The overall layout of this architectural complex remains relatively intact, spanning a wide range of construction periods. It holds certain reference value for studying the development of architecture in Ningbo during the Qing and Republican eras.

Yuexiu Subdistrict: Established in 1992, Yuexiu Subdistrict in Haishu District is located in the city center of Ningbo. It stretches from Jiefang Road in the east to Changchun Road in the west, neighbors the five-star Nanyuan Hotel to the south, and borders Zhongshan Road to the north. It was formed through the merger of three former subdistricts: Xianxue, Huxi, and Cangqiao. The subdistrict covers an area of 2.07 square kilometers, has 16,492 permanent resident households, a population of 41,775, and is divided into seven community committees.
