Former Lin Residence

The Former Lin Residence is located at Nos. 40-43, 45, and 47 Yongshou Street, Haishu District, Ningbo. In September 1999, it was designated as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. It is a building from the Qing Dynasty.

The site was originally the residence of Lin Bao, a notable official of the Northern Song Dynasty and an officer of the Fuwengge Academy. The Lin family was a prominent clan in Ningbo, also known as the "Beiguo Lin Family." Many members of the family held official positions, such as Lin Zuxia, Vice Minister of Revenue in the Southern Song Dynasty, and Lin Donglong, Vice Minister of Personnel in the Ming Dynasty. At the intersection of Yongshou Street and Xiaowen Street, there once stood a memorial archway commemorating father and son of the Lin family who both achieved success in the imperial examinations. During the Republican era, Lin Shaokai, who served as Director of the Ningbo Works Bureau, and his brother Lin Shaonan were closely associated with Chiang Kai-shek. Later, the Lin family sold parts of the residence to families surnamed Yu and Fan.
