The You Family Residence on Tianyi Lane

The You Family Residence on Tianyi Lane is located at No. 12, Tianyi Lane, Haishu District, Ningbo. In August 2003, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. It is a two-story residence built in the style of a traditional three-courtyard compound from the Republican era. The main structure faces south and is symmetrically arranged along a central axis. The entrance features luxurious and exquisite carvings, with a relatively tall group of brick firewalls connected to the gables. Parts of the interior and exterior are adorned with colored paintings, and the gables have multi-eaved windows on both sides. The main house has a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof, with rolled-canopy eaves on both sides of the corridor, presenting a novel form. The architectural components are exquisitely crafted and ornate, reflecting a high level of craftsmanship. It is a masterpiece of traditional southern Chinese residential architecture.
