No. 19, Zhongying Lane, Zhang’s Residence

No. 19, Zhongying Lane, Zhang’s Residence is located at No. 19, Zhongying Lane, Haishu District, Ningbo City. In August 2003, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. This Republican-era building faces south, with its main structure oriented north-south and the main entrance also facing south, featuring a plum-and-stone door frame. The main house is a high, flat-roofed building with double eaves and a hip-and-gable roof, adorned with a Buddhist guardian hood on the blue plaster gable walls, arched windows, and cement-pebble finishes with floral reliefs at the top. The flooring is laid with terrazzo. A narrow passageway is formed between the eastern gable wall and the surrounding wall, featuring a cement railing and steps leading up to the rooftop.

It is recorded that the original owner, Zhang Meicheng, served as the general manager of Ningbo Tongliyuan Oil Pressing Co., Ltd. during the Republican era. The residence boasts an intact layout and exquisite craftsmanship, representing a typical structure with a distinctive blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles of the time, and holds significant importance for the study of the development history of modern architecture in the Ningbo region.
