Xiangyang Bridge

Xiangyang Bridge is situated on the Nan Tang River on the west side of the northern end of Nanjiao Road in Haishu District, Ningbo. In August 2003, it was listed as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. Constructed during the Qing Dynasty and aligned from east to west, it is a single-span stone flat bridge with eight steps connecting to Nanjiao Road, with ascending paths on the north end and descending ones on the south. The bridge spans a total length of 18.31 meters and is 2.3 meters wide, with a rise of 2.7 meters. Its piers are built using a method of vertical bonding with staggered joints. The stone parapets on both sides of the bridge deck stand 1 meter high and are inscribed in intaglio regular script with the characters “Xiangyang Bridge” (向阳桥), alongside the inscription “Reconstructed in the 19th year of the Guangxu reign” (光绪十九年重修).

The construction date of Xiangyang Bridge is well-documented, and it remains in good condition. As one of the few ancient bridges on the Nan Tang River, it holds significant reference value for the study of Ningbo’s ancient transportation and bridge architecture.
