Henianfang

Henianfang is located at No. 44, 50, and 56 Henghe Street, Haishu District, Ningbo City. In August 2003, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. The building faces east and is a two-story brick-and-wood structure from the Republican era, consisting of three sections with consistent architectural styles. Each section has a main gate on its northern exterior wall, set within a stone lintel, which is inscribed respectively with “Henianfang First Alley,” “Henianfang Second Alley,” and “Henianfang Third Alley” to distinguish them.

According to research, Henianfang was originally built as rental housing during the Republican period. It remains well-preserved and features a distinctive layout, making it one of the relatively rare surviving examples of architecture with strong Republican-era characteristics. It provides valuable physical evidence for the study of architectural styles and the then-popular phenomenon of property rental in Ningbo during that time.
