Sheng Mansion on Zhenming Lane

Sheng Mansion on Zhenming Lane is located at No. 12 and No. 14, Zhenming Lane, Haishu District, Ningbo City. In August 2003, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage conservation sites in Ningbo. It is a Qing Dynasty building. The main structure faces west and is three stories high with three bays. The gable walls are decorated with high-relief rose pediments, and the brick pillars are adorned with scrollwork patterns.

The original owner of the mansion, Sheng Bingwei, was from Zhenhai. In 1897, he co-founded Chucail School with Cheng Daocun, the then prefect of Ningbo, which was later renamed Ningbo Middle School. In 1904, he also planned the establishment of Zhenhai County Middle School and the County Higher Primary School. This mansion represents a common architectural style from the late Qing Dynasty and serves as a valuable material for studying the architectural history of Ningbo in that period.
