Former Site of Yongyao Electric Power Company

The former site of Yongyao Electric Power Company is located at No. 1 Beijiao Road, Haishu District, Ningbo City. In August 2003, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo. It is a building from the Republican era, and the only remaining structure is a north-facing, south-oriented building that blends Chinese and Western architectural styles.

Historical records indicate that Yongyao Electric Power Company was established in April 1914 and was a mainstay of Ningbo’s electric power industry, serving as one of the “three and a half chimneys” representing Ningbo’s national industries. In 1953, it underwent public-private partnership reform and now serves as the office location for the Ningbo Electric Power Bureau. Yongyao Electric Power Company was a key industrial entity in old Ningbo and also held a certain level of recognition nationally. It preserves tangible material for the study of the development of modern industry in Ningbo.
