Former Site of the Trinity Church School

The former site of the Trinity Church School is located at No. 44 Guangren Street, Haishu District, Ningbo. Built in 1912, it was designated as one of the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection sites in Ningbo in April 2005. The main building faces south and features a hip-and-gable roof covered with blue tiles. Two herringbone-shaped, cap-like iron chimneys sit atop the roof, while the brick walls are decorated with square-patterned red-brick lines dividing the façade into two equal stories.

According to research, the Trinity Church School was relocated here from Guanqiaotou in the urban area in 1912. It was founded by the Church of England’s Anglican mission in Ningbo. The name “Trinity” refers to the Christian doctrine of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The school stands as a historical testament to the efforts of Western churches in spreading education and culture in Ningbo, and serves as valuable material for studying the city’s opening-up and modern history.
