Qiming Primary School

Qiming Primary School is located in Cui’ao Village, Zhangshui Town, Haishu District, Ningbo City. It was founded in 1929 by Cui Zhenwu, a revolutionary martyr.

The main building of the schoolhouse is a two-story structure with five bays, covering an area of 153.9 square meters. It has four classrooms on each of the upper and lower floors, with the main gate situated at the center. The roof of the facade is triangular, with a circular school emblem in the middle. The bottom of the emblem depicts the flowing Zhangxi Stream, the middle shows towering mountains, and the top features a red five-pointed star, symbolizing the red star illuminating the land and rivers. Below, the school name “Yinxian Qiming Primary School” is inscribed in five seal script characters. To the right of the main building are two rows of single-story houses, serving as teachers' dormitories and offices respectively.

Martyr Cui Zhenwu (1902–1937) participated in the May Fourth Movement. With the support of Mr. Lu Xun, he co-founded the “Zhangxi Academic Society” and the “Yangyang Society” with Cui Shaoli and Rou Shi, and edited publications such as “Morning Flowers.” He translated and wrote extensively. In 1937, he was tragically killed by Kuomintang forces in Guangxi. During the War of Resistance against Japan, the school served as a revolutionary contact point. At that time, Comrade Li Min worked undercover as a teacher at Qiming School to carry out revolutionary activities.

In May 2005, Qiming Primary School was designated as a cultural relics protection site at the Yinzhou District level. In 2016, following the adjustment of Ningbo’s administrative divisions, it came under the jurisdiction of Haishu District.
