"Heart of Siming Mountain" Cliff Inscription

The "Heart of Siming Mountain" cliff inscription is located in Ziyanyan Village, Zhangshui Town, Haishu District, Ningbo City, about one li south of the former Zhangxi Temple. Aside from the four large clerical-style characters "Heart of Siming Mountain," there are no inscriptions or signatures nearby, and historical records do not provide an exact date for its carving.

The stone on which the "Heart of Siming Mountain" characters are carved is called "Screen Rock." It stands 4.5 meters high, 1.95 meters wide, and 3.2 meters thick. The characters "Heart of Siming Mountain" are written vertically on the eastern face in four large clerical-style characters, each measuring 0.66×0.57 meters in size, with a spacing of 0.1 meter between them. There have been varying opinions about the time period in which this cliff inscription was created. The Ming Dynasty poet Shen Mingchen wrote in his *Travelogue of Siming Mountain*: "Records say it was created by people from the Han Dynasty—this is indeed true." Huang Zongxi also stated, "It is in Han-style clerical script." However, modern researchers believe it was carved during the Song Dynasty. In May 2005, it was designated as a cultural heritage conservation site at the Yinzhou District level. Following the 2016 administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City, it became part of Haishu District.

Ziyanyan Village: Ziyanyan Village is located to the west of the Zhangshui Town government, approximately 23 kilometers from the Zhangshui Town government. The village consists of two natural villages: Zifeng and Huangyantou. In 2004, during the administrative village consolidation, Zifeng and Huangyantou were merged to form Ziyanyan Village. The village office is located at the former Zifeng School. The village has a permanent population of 563 people, 250 households, 620 acres of land, and 3,000 acres of forested mountain area. The local farmers primarily grow tea leaves and flowers. In 2006, the per capita income of the villagers was 2,586 yuan.
