Inscription of Tianxing Temple

The Inscription of Tianxing Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Inscription of Tianxing Temple is preserved within Tianxing Temple in Shangduan Natural Village, Dongqiao Village, Dongqiao Town, Haishu District, Ningbo City. It was carved in the third year of the Yuandade era. The stele stands 1.80 meters tall, is 1.03 meters wide, and 0.13 meters thick, and was authored by Wang Yinglin, Minister of Rites. The top of the stele bears the two characters “庙记” (Temple Record), written in his hand, each character measuring 0.12 meters in both height and width. The full text of the inscription is written in running regular script, with each character measuring 0.025 meters in height and 0.24 meters in width, arranged in 16 lines, recounting the reasons for the establishment of Tianxing Temple.

This inscription has a long history and was written by Wang Yinglin, a notable figure from our county and Minister of Rites, possessing high historical and cultural value. In August 2007, it was designated as a cultural relics protection site at the Yinzhou District level. In 2016, following the adjustment of Ningbo’s administrative divisions, it was placed under Haishu District.
