Tomb of Mr. Chen

The Tomb of Mr. Chen is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tomb of Mr. Chen is located in Zhujiazhuang Natural Village, Yingshan Village, Hengjie Town, Haishu District, Ningbo City, on the mountainside of Bodhisattva Mountain. It is the joint burial tomb of Chen Xingeng and Chen Zhixian. According to the tombstone, it is a Republican-era burial site. The tomb faces south and is built against the mountain, with a semi-circular burial chamber and an earthen mound about 2 meters high. In front of the burial chamber, there are two tombstones placed side by side, engraved in intaglio with the names of the tomb owners. The epitaph is located between the two tombstones, carved from Meiyuan stone. The entire stele is 1 meter high and 0.6 meters wide, with the inscription in regular script carved in intaglio. The full text consists of 30 lines, 16 columns, and 431 characters, detailing the life stories of Chen Xingeng and Chen Zhixian. The inscription is signed as written by Sha Wenruo in the 14th year of the Republic of China.

The epitaph of the Tomb of Mr. Chen is well-preserved. The author of the inscription, Mr. Sha Menghai, was a renowned calligrapher in China, giving the site significant historical and cultural value. In August 2007, it was designated as a cultural relics protection site at the Yinzhou District level, and in 2016, following the administrative division adjustment of Ningbo City, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Haishu District.
