Songmen Coastal Scenic Area

Songmen Coastal Scenic Area is located in Songmen Town, Wenling City, 29 kilometers from the city center, covering an area of 15.7 square kilometers with nearly 50 scenic spots of various sizes. The entire scenic area stretches from Jigu Mountain Island in the east to Diaobang Jiangjia in the south, from Fulong Mountain in the west to Zhidashan Island in the north. It consists of four major scenic zones: Shuitong’ao, Dongxia, Shahuo Island, and Fulong Mountain.

Shuitong’ao Scenic Zone features towering mountains on both sides forming a natural basin that cradles a sandy beach, resembling a wooden bucket—hence its name. The beach boasts fine sand, and the surrounding cliffs present uniquely shaped rock formations, including such scenic spots as Carp Leaping Over Waves, Heavenly Mouse Feasting, Divine Turtle Gazing at the Moon, Shark Emerging from the Sea, Dolphin Frolicking in Water, and the Great Maitreya Buddha.

Shahuo Island Scenic Zone is known for its striking island and reef landscapes. The island features a golden coarse-grained sandy beach, Lizard Lying on the Reef, AoJiao Emerging from the Sea, and Yuanyu Islet among other natural wonders. Jigu Mountain Island retains historical relics and is rich in local legends.

Dongxia Scenic Zone mainly consists of a large sandy beach and stone caves. The beach here has particularly high-quality sand and has been developed into the largest seaside leisure ground in Taizhou City. The zone also hosts ancient and rare trees, such as Euonymus fortunei—the largest of its kind in the province—and a century-old tree species, Quercus dentata.

Fulong Mountain Scenic Zone features cultural landmarks such as Wenfeng Ancient Pagoda, Liberation Monument, Hehu Lake, and Sea-Viewing Platform. With its mild climate, it serves as an ideal destination for coastal vacations.
