Zhongjie Shrine

Zhongjie Shrine is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenling City.

Zhongjie Shrine: Located to the east of No. 340, San Shao Village, Xinhe Town. It faces south and consists of a quadrangle courtyard composed of an entrance gate, main hall, and left and right wing rooms. It is 21.5 meters long from east to west and 19.6 meters long from north to south, covering an area of 414.54 square meters. The entrance gate is shaped like the character “八” (eight), and on both sides of the gate there is a couplet: “Great integrity exists among people, eternal moral principles forever rely; the noble shrine by the winding water, fragrant offerings all seasons long.” In the center of the lintel is inlaid a bluestone plaque with the characters “Zhongjie Shrine” written in running script, along with inscriptions such as “The 11th year of the Republic of China, 11th month, auspicious day,” and “Erected by Liu Sheng, the 16th-generation descendant of the late sage Jingxue Wang, who studied in Japan, held a law degree, served as Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the Ministry of War, President of the Wenzhou and Lishui Criminal Court, President of the Shaoxing Civil Court, Magistrate of Quzhou Local Court, and was later promoted.” The left and right wing rooms are single-eave, gable-and-hip flat-roofed houses with three bays. The main hall is a single-eave, gable-and-hip flat-roofed house with seven bays, and the central bay houses an altar for enshrining ancestral tablets. A pathway runs through the courtyard, connecting the entrance gate and the main hall.

According to research, Zhongjie Shrine was built to commemorate Wang Shuying, a loyal and righteous official from Wenling. Wang Shuying, also known as Yucai and styled Jingxue, was a native of Tingling, Huangyan (now Xiaohetou Village, Taiping), during the Ming Dynasty, and was a close friend of Fang Xiaoru. He committed suicide out of loyalty during the Jingnan Incident, and later generations built this shrine to honor him.

The entire ancestral hall has an intact structure and is well preserved, holding significant historical value for studying the local culture of Wenling.

San Shao Village: San Shao Village is located in the eastern part of Xinhe Town, with a total village area of 0.5 square kilometers and a total cultivated land area of 573 mu. It administers 10 villager groups, has a registered population of 1,077, 336 households, 62 non-native residents, a village two-committee of 9 members, 34 Party members, 52 villager representatives, 5 members of the village supervisory committee, and 7 members of the elderly committee. There are 34 enterprises in the village, 20 privately rented houses, an annual collective economic income of 20,000 yuan, and in 2015, the per capita income of farmers reached 17,850 yuan.
