Shiliangzuan

Shiliangzuan is a cultural heritage site protected by Wenling City.

Shiliangzuan is located southeast of the Baxianyan Scenic Area in the Changyu Dongtian of Xinhua Town, Wenling City, Zhejiang Province, and was originally an ancient stone quarry. Legend has it that during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, local residents used the stone beams to construct a shrine, hence the name Shiliangzuan Temple. It later enshrined Dong Zhongshu, a Confucian scholar of the Han Dynasty. Since Dong Zhongshu was posthumously honored as the "Dai Shi Zun Wang" (Respected King of Stone), the temple is also known as the Dai Shi Temple.

Today, a stone memorial archway stands in front of the temple. Passing through it, you enter a second gate leading to two courtyards. The first courtyard has a seven-room building, behind which lies a flagstone-paved courtyard. The main hall is situated inside a cave, which is 25 meters deep, 36 meters wide, and about 30 meters high. There is a skylight at the top, allowing sunlight to stream into the hall. Due to damage during the Cultural Revolution, apart from some remaining stone components in the main hall, the rest has been rebuilt. Shiliangzuan is a typical example of cave-based temple architecture in the Wenling area.
