Chongguo Temple

Chongguo Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenling City.

Chongguo Temple is located in Tiechang Village, Xinhe Town, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. According to the Taiping County Annals from the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, the temple was originally built during the Xianning period of the Jin Dynasty, initially named Puguang Temple. It was rebuilt in the first year of the Xiangfu era of the Song Dynasty and renamed Chongguo Temple. Restored during the Ming and Qing dynasties as well as in modern times, it is a renowned ancient temple in Wenling. The temple features, along its central axis, the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, and the Guanyin Hall, with the Ksitigarbha Hall and monks' quarters distributed on both sides. The total area is approximately 2,568 square meters. Nestled among green trees, the temple boasts beautiful scenery.

Among the existing structures of Chongguo Temple, only the Heavenly King Hall retains its Qing Dynasty architectural style, while the rest have been rebuilt in modern times. The Heavenly King Hall is 19.6 meters wide and 9.25 meters deep, featuring front and rear corridors. The central bay uses a raised-beam structure, while the side bays use a post-and-lintel structure.

TIECHANG VILLAGE: Tiechang Village is located southwest of Xinhe Town, covering a total area of 2.6 square kilometers with a total cultivated land area of 705 mu. It administers 19 villager groups, with a registered population of 895 households and 2,460 people. The village has a two-committee team of 10 members, 67 Party members, 48 villager representatives, 6 members of the village supervision committee, and 8 members of the elderly committee. There are 35 private rental houses and 64 private rental units in the village. In 2015, the per capita income of farmers reached 11,560 yuan. The village has a total of 4 low-income households and 8 key petition households.
