Wenling Martyrs' Cemetery

Wenling Martyrs' Cemetery is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenling City.

Wenling Martyrs' Cemetery is located at the southern foot of Wayu Mountain in Dongmen Village, Taiping Subdistrict, Wenling City, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. Covering an area of over 30 acres, it was first built in 1958 and underwent two renovations and expansions in 1963 and 1974, followed by annual maintenance. At the platform atop the hill within the cemetery stands a martyrs' memorial tower, topped with a red star, with its front inscribed with eight gilded characters by Mao Zedong: “Eternal Glory to Those Who Died for the Nation.” The bluestone stele embedded above the base of the tower bears handwritten inscriptions by Zhu De, Dong Biwu, and Guo Moruo. The cemetery is shaded by evergreen pines and cypresses, with lush bamboo and trees. It is the final resting place of the remains of more than 300 martyrs who died in the battles to liberate Zhoushan and Jigu Mountain, as well as during the period of socialist construction, making it one of Wenling’s most important revolutionary commemorative structures with significant cultural heritage value.

Dongmen Village: Located in the bustling center of Taiping Subdistrict, Wenling City, Dongmen Village spans an area of 1.5 square kilometers. It is bordered by Tiyuchang Road to the east, Qianxi Road to the south, Dongcheng Road to the west, and lies south of Wanshou Road. The village consists of 7 villager groups, with a population of 1,246, 526 households, 67 Party members, and 44 villager representatives. In 2015, the village collective economy generated an income of over 12 million yuan.
